Fidelity Investments Review

Editors Score:9.2/10

Fidelity Investments is the best SIMPLE IRA plan provider for small businesses because it has some of the lowest trade fees and provides complimentary access to advisors to help retirement plan participants customize their investment portfolios.

Editor's Rating9.2/10

A SEP IRA is a desirable option for self-employed individuals and small business owners with only a handful of employees. SEP IRAs are easy to set up, have higher contribution limits than traditional IRAs, and offer many government tax breaks. These plans are cheap to begin with, but when you work with Fidelity, they’re even more affordable, which is why it’s our choice as the best retirement plan provider for self-employed workers.

Editor’s score: 9.24/10

Not only does Fidelity offer a ton of investment choices with its SEP IRA plans, but there are no opening or closing costs, nor annual fees. What’s more, U.S. stocks, ETFs, and options trades have no commissions. The commission-free trades and absence of administration costs stood out to us when we were researching employee retirement plan providers. Small business owners are looking for the cheapest way to save for their retirement, and Fidelity delivers.

We also like how Fidelity makes it easy to open a SEP IRA online and through its app. You can open an account in just a few minutes. Fidelity doesn’t abandon you once you start investing, which is another attribute that appealed to us. It has a wealth of information online to guide your investment decisions. It doesn’t hurt that Fidelity has been in the retirement savings industry for decades and earned a stellar reputation in that time. Self-employed workers need to save for retirement too, which is where a SEP IRA comes in. By working with Fidelity, you get a low-cost option and a variety of investment choices, making it our best pick for self-employed workers.
